About author:
Marco Rosa graduated as Medical Doctor in 1981 then carried out postgraduate studies first in Dentistry, then in Orthodontics. Former President and Active Member of the Angle Society ofEurope, he is both the European Board and the Italian Board of Orthodontics certified. He works in private practice, limited to Orthodontics, in Trento, Northern Italy and he is visiting professor at Insubria University in Varese - Italy. His primary areas of interest are “Early Treatment: keypoints and new procedures”, “Space Closure in case of Upper Missing Incisors” and “Interdisciplinary Treatment”. He published and regularly lectures internationally about these topics.
Abstract of the lecture:
In case of missing incisors, space closure could be an effective alternative. This solution is nowadays not only possible in all malocclusions, but also is an evidence based treatment.
Orthodontic space closure is the first step of an interdisciplinary treatment, which leads to long term health, aesthetic and function.
Conversely, this treatment is sometimes difficult and challenging: even more when the gingival margins are visible and in case of periodontal breakdown. The lecture will outline and discuss the rationale, the priorities and some crucial details in the clinical method.
